Washington, D.C. – Chef Tom Colicchio, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, and other leading anti-hunger advocates will hold a press conference TODAY (Sept. 17) at 4:00 p.m. ET to condemn House Republicans for backing $40 billion in cuts to vital federal nutrition programs.

In recent days, GOP leaders have pushed for these cuts in the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP. Roughly one in seven Americans, including 17 million children rely on SNAP benefits to keep themselves fed.

Chef Colicchio is a founding board member of Food Policy Action, an organization that scores members of Congress on food-related issues.
