WASHINGTON, DC (Dec. 13, 2016) – Leading national food policy organization Food Policy Action (FPA) and separate sister organization Food Policy Action Education Fund (FPA-EF) today announced that Willy Ritch has joined their team as a senior policy advisor and manager of a new anti-hunger media campaign. Ritch will help launch and manage A Place at the Table, a first-of-its-kind media campaign to change the way the public thinks of hunger in America.  He will also provide policy, advocacy and strategic counsel as a senior advisor on the Food Policy Action leadership team.

“I have gotten to know Willy over the years in my work on the Hill, and we are ecstatic to have him join our efforts,” said Tom Colicchio, co-founder of Food Policy Action, food advocate and chef. “Willy’s respected reputation and strong national network in food policy and hunger advocacy – as well as his expertise on our issues – are exactly what we need in this next phase of growth for FPA. The food movement is more important than ever, and we look forward to his help in taking our organization to the next level.”

Ritch joins FPA and FPA-EF with over 25 years of advocacy, communications, and policy experience, most recently serving as Communications Director and Senior Advisor to food champion U.S. Representative Chellie Pingree. Ritch will lead FPA-EF’s hunger campaign advocacy efforts and policy strategy to broaden the impact of the organization’s programs.

“I’m so happy Willy is using his considerable talents to motivate Americans to take action on hunger in this country. During his time in my office, he showed an exceptional ability to communicate complicated issues in a way that made people notice, understand, and care,” said Rep. Pingree. “That was especially true with my efforts to improve food and agriculture policy—and his work led to multiple successes. I wish him all the best in his new role at Food Policy Action.”

Prior to joining Representative Pingree’s office, Ritch worked for nearly two decades as a radio talk show host. Ritch is a native of Maine and graduate of Bowdoin College.
